November 8 – Victory Day

Under the leadership of Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, the Azerbaijani Army launched the Patriotic War on September 27, 2020, to repel Armenia’s provocations and new occupation plans, and to liberate the occupied territories. The war ended in a magnificent victory.

As a result of 44 days of military operations, the Azerbaijani Army liberated territories that had been under occupation for nearly 30 years. On November 8, 2020, the liberation of the city of Shusha — known as the crown of Karabakh — became one of the most historic and symbolic victories for our people. The operation that led to Shusha’s liberation is regarded as a unique military achievement in world history and ultimately resulted in Armenia’s capitulation.

These include concert programs titled “Heroes of Karabakh” or “Heroes of Victory”, remembrance ceremonies, and various cultural activities, introducing the Azerbaijani people’s glorious victory to the local community.

In Spain, the “Azerbaijani Society in Barcelona” (ASB) and Casa Azerbaiyán commemorate Victory Day every year with a series of events. Our events, which are supported by the State Committee for Work with the Diaspora, include concert programs titled “Heroes of Karabakh” or “Heroes of Victory,” commemorative ceremonies, and various cultural events that introduce the glorious victory of the Azerbaijani people to the local community.
